As the COVID-19 pandemic is raging and causing thousands of fatalities all over the globe, small businesses are among the many casualties that suffer. The quarantines and strict lockdowns enforced by the government have impacted not only our everyday lifestyle but the survival of small businesses as well, especially those in the travel and tourism industry.
A recent report published by WordStream revealed in detail how the COVID-19 pandemic impacted Google Ads Results for 21 industries. Among them, the ones that got hit the hardest are travel and tourism, bars and restaurants, live entertainment, conferences, sports and fitness, building and construction, and industrial and manufacturing.
On the other hand, some industries have thrived well, specifically those in the health and medical industry and business management.
Furthermore, WordStream reported mixed PPC performance for businesses in legal, jobs & education, retail, automotive, home furniture, home improvement, and real estate.
Among those businesses that got a mixed Google Ads performance results are those in the legal industry. According to WordStream, the legal industry is seeing some minor shifts in their ad performance.
“The legal industry is seeing some minor shifts on the SERP, with modest (under 5%) to search volumes and conversion rates. Luckily, this is offset by a similar decline in the cost per click—keeping search conversions and CPAs mostly steady.”
WordStream further reported that the conversions they saw arrived in the form of phone calls instead of website submissions. Their data revealed that almost 30% of these calls are unanswered.
Those calls were unanswered because, in the past few weeks, everyone is already working from home.
